TILING IN COLD WEATHER
CEMENT BASED TILE ADHESIVES & FLOOR
LEVELLING COMPOUNDS
Internally used cementitious tile adhesives and floor
levelling compounds, as with all cement based materials,
are affected by cold temperatures, resulting in extended
setting times.
Minimum air temperature for use is 5ēC, and product
storage should also be in conditions above 5ēC. Where
conditions fall below this temperature it is common
practice, and advisable, to use room heaters to raise and
manitain air and substrate temperatures above this
minimum level, while work is in progress and until cured.
OTHER ULTRA TILE AND ULTRA FLOOR
PRODUCTS
Associated epoxy Damp Proof Membranes, water based
primers, ready mixed tile adhesives and our WaterShield
TM wet room kit, will all have extended drying times when
used in cold temperatures due to slow reactivity or slow
evaporation, depending on the particular product. The
consistency of these liquid group of products will increase
in thickness the colder the temperature.
Room heaters, as mentioned opposite, will improve
application and curing. Minimum temperature for storage
should again be 5ēC, and frost should be avoided as this
can seriously damage water-based liquid products.
